  • Notes: "Calli e Canali in Venezia" ("Streets and Canals in Venice") was a series of 100 different views bound together in one volume for publication by the Venetian bookseller, Ferdinando Ongania, in 1891. This lot consists of 38 disbound plates (several of which are duplicates and/or from the second edition published in 1893). The plates include: II 4, 8 (two examples), 11, 12, 14, 18, 20, 22, II 22, 24, 25, 28, 30, 34, 35, II 39, 40 (two examples), 48, 52, 62, 64, 66, 68, 71, 74, 75, 76, 80, II 80, 87, 88, 90, 91, 92, 95, and 98. Three of the plates (nos. II 4, II 22, and 40) have the oval ink stamp of the Bucknell University Library, Lewisburg, PA, verso.
  • Condition: Each: Overall good condition. Full margins, with old binding holes and occasional attendant small paper losses along one of the long margin edges of each plate. Pale damp staining at one of the short margin edges of each plate, not affecting the image. An occasional unobtrusive foxmark in the margins of some of the plates. Minor surface soiling and slight time staining along the margin edges. Plate 35 with a 4" diagonal tear in the upper margin, stopping just before the outer edge of the image. Each plate loose, not matted.

Shipping. As a courtesy to buyers, Moran provides a list of preferred shippers who are in the business of transporting antiques and works of art. Buyers are responsible for arranging their own shipping estimates and deliveries. Moran, in its sole discretion and as a courtesy to buyers, may arrange to have purchased lots packed, insured, and forwarded by a third-party shipper at the request, expense, and risk of the buyer. In circumstances where Moran arranges for such third-party services, Moran may apply an administration charge of 15% of that service fee. Moran assumes no responsibility for acts or omissions in such packing or shipping by other packers or carriers, even if recommended by Moran. Moran also assumes no responsibility for any damage to picture frames or to the glass therein.
