The second of Moran’s biannual California & American Fine Art auctions this year, the October 23rd catalogue is expected to bowl over collectors with a wide array of works by well-known American painters. Primarily featuring works by California-based Impressionist painters, the October 23rd catalogue comprises a curated assemblage of fresh-to-the-market paintings from local private collections and estates. John Moran Auctioneers Breaks Records, Achieves Nearly $1 Million in Sales at October California & American Fine Art Auction ● Moran’s earned nearly $1 million in auction sales at their October 24th California & American Fine Art Auction, which featured 200 lots of fine art by California and American artists covering a wide range of styles and subjects.
● A new world auction record was set for Los Angeles-based artist Ben Abril (1923 – 1995), whose sweeping view of Downtown Los Angeles realized $27,000.
● Sierra Nevada-focused works were of particular interest to bidders - a number of mountain landscapes performed quite well at the block.
